Installation and Setup

Prior to running cHECk-RAS for the first time, users should:

• Have a good understanding of stream hydraulics
• Be competent with running the U.S Army Corps of Engineer's HEC-RAS program
• Have a basic understanding of Microsoft Windows
• Read the cHECk-RAS User Guide
• Install HEC-RAS Version 4.1.0

cHECk-RAS can only run if the HEC-RAS program is installed on the same computer. If you are using cHECk-RAS for the first time you will need to configure your cHECk-RAS program so that it can find the HEC-RAS version 4.1.0 program, later discussed in this tutorial.

As a reminder, HEC-RAS project files created from previous versions of HEC-RAS can be used in cHECk-RAS; however, in order for the cHECk-RAS 2.0.1 software to function correctly, HEC-RAS version 4.1.0 must be installed.
